**HINT is the token alignment layer for Hive's agent data network.** Hive Intelligence gives AI agents one managed MCP and API surface for crypto market data, wallets, DeFi, token risk, DEX flow, and prediction markets. HINT is live on Base and is designed to connect token holders, developers, and partners to the growth of that usage loop. {% .lead %}

{% callout title="Live token, roadmap utility" %}
HINT exists today as an ERC-20 token on Base. Product utility such as API credit payments, holder discounts, grants, governance, staking, buybacks, or burns should be treated as roadmap unless the mechanic is live, publicly documented, and auditable on-chain.

## Why HINT exists

Hive's core product is agent-ready crypto intelligence. Developers use Hive because crypto data is fragmented across chains, providers, protocols, wallets, markets, and formats. Hive turns that fragmentation into one authenticated tool surface for AI agents.

HINT exists to align the network around usage. If more agents depend on Hive for live crypto intelligence, the token roadmap can support crypto-native payments, holder incentives, builder grants, governance, and transparent token programs.

The token should not be the reason Hive works. The product has to work first. HINT is meant to amplify a useful data network, not substitute for one.

## The Hive usage flywheel

The HINT flywheel starts with demand for Hive's API and MCP server:

1. Agents and developers need live crypto intelligence.
2. Builders integrate Hive instead of stitching together every provider themselves.
3. Paid API usage supports deeper data coverage, better reliability, and more agent workflows.
4. Stronger infrastructure attracts more integrations and partner surfaces.
5. Token-aligned programs can reward the ecosystem that grows the network.
6. More builders discover Hive through product utility and token-holder participation.

That is the loop: product usage creates the reason for token utility. Any future buyback, burn, staking, grant, or governance mechanic should point back to this usage engine and be published with a clear policy, contract address, and transaction history.

## HINT utility

| Utility | Status | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Live Base token | Live | HINT exists as an ERC-20 token on Base. |
| Market tracking | Live | Price and FDV can be tracked through public market data sources. |
| API credit payments | Roadmap | Let crypto-native customers pay for Hive API credits with HINT. |
| Holder discounts | Roadmap | Create transparent access or discount tiers for qualifying holders. |
| Builder grants | Roadmap | Fund agents, integrations, dashboards, and workflows built on Hive. |
| Governance | Roadmap | Let holders participate in roadmap, provider, and ecosystem priorities. |
| Buybacks / burns | Not active | Only claim this after a public formula, contracts, and transaction tracker exist. |

## Transparency standard

The strongest token pages make mechanics easy to inspect. HINT should follow that standard.

For every future token program, Hive should publish the policy, eligibility rules, contract address, transaction hashes, source labels, and last-updated timestamp. If a mechanic cannot be inspected, this page should not present it as live.

## What HINT is not

- **Not required to use Hive today.** Hive's credit-based API plans remain the primary product surface.
- **Not a price forecast.** This page does not predict token price, market cap, volume, or liquidity.
- **Not a yield product.** No fixed return, dividend, revenue share, or distribution is offered or implied.
- **Not a substitute for product usage.** The flywheel depends on developers and agents using Hive.
- **Not legal, tax, or investment advice.** Token availability and utility can change based on product, legal, and operational constraints.
